Tampa - St. Pete AFCEA Chapter 2011 - 2012 Scholarship Application

The Tampa-St. Petersburg Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) is pleased to announce its annual call for scholarship applicants. The objective of the Chapter Scholarship Program is to assist outstanding and deserving college-bound students through monetary awards, allowing them to complete their education in technical and scientific fields.

The Chapter provides scholarships in fields of study that directly relate to AFCEA's sphere of interest. Students must be enrolled in programs or pursuing classes related to electronics, electronic communications, electrical engineering, information systems, computer science, computer technology, physics, or mathematics.

All applicants will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (unweighted) on a 4.0 scale.
  • Record of academic achievement, community service, and extracurricular activities.
  • Financial need.
  • Acceptance to attend a community college, university, or technical school.
  • Special consideration will be given to applicants affiliated with the Military (e.g., active duty, veteran, spouse or child of veteran) or ROTC (current ROTC or junior ROTC).
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Completed applications must be e-mailed no later than 9 March 2012. Applications will be reviewed in May 2012 and scholarships will be awarded in April 2012. Funds will be forwarded to either the student's local education foundation (e.g. Hillsborough Education Foundation or Pinellas Education Foundation) or the Financial Aid office of the student's school of choice.
