2017 May AFCEA Luncheon

A short BIO of our Distinguished Guest:

Colonel James (Jim) D. Turinetti IV grew up outside of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.  Upon graduation from The Ohio State University as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, he was commissioned on 10 June 1994 into the Signal Corps.  

COL Turinetti has since served in a variety of Signal Officer command and staff positions.  He began his career in Europe as a 44th Signal Battalion Platoon Leader, followed by U.S. Liaison to the SFOR CJ-6 (Bosnia-Herzegovina) for OPERATION JOINT GUARD and Aide-de-Camp to the 5th Signal Command Commanding General in Mannheim, Germany.  Later in the 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, he served as the G-6 Plans Officer and then the Alpha Company Commander, 13th Signal Battalion.  At the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, he served as an Observer Controller with the Light Infantry (Airborne) Task Force as the S-6 trainer and then with the Brigade Task Force as a Signal Company trainer.  On a subsequent Germany tour, he progressed through a series of staff officer positions: 52nd Strategic Signal Battalion S-3 Operations Officer (Stuttgart), 7th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade S-3 (Mannheim), and 5th Signal Command Secretary to the General Staff.  During the OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM surge, COL Turinetti deployed to Baghdad as the Special Operations Iraq Transition Team S-6 Advisor to the Iraqi Special Forces.  Upon redeployment, he led the 5th Signal Command Commander’s Initiatives Group.  Returning to Fort Hood, as the 1st Cavalry Division Assistant Chief of Staff, G-6, he deployed as the CJ-6 for the Combined Joint Task Force – 1, Regional Command – East in Bagram, Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.  Following a tour as the Signal Officer Branch Chief assigned to the U.S. Army Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky, COL Turinetti became the HQDA CIO/G-6 Chief, Strategic Initiatives Group.  He currently commands the Defense Information System Agency – Central in Tampa, Florida.

His military and civilian education include the Signal Corps Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Combined Arms Service Staff Officer Course, Command General Staff College, Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from The Ohio State University, Masters of Arts in Telecommunications Management from Websters University, and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy with a focus on Cyber Security Leadership from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.

 

He is blessed to be married to Monique Kelsey and have two children, Sophie and Dominic.
